When did you start to be interested in art? Why did you choose to draw?

I have been interested in art since I was 15 and I chose to draw because I was a good drawer. It was the only activity I could exercise, and I loved it.

Do you remember your first artwork? What was it like?

Yes, I remember it. It was an abstract painting realized with toothpaste and wax. I used what I had on hand. At the time, I was homeless.

What are your favorite topics and why ? Is there anything you would not depict ?

I try to paint a lot of things: I paint abstract and figurative artworks, but I prefer to work in abstract techniques. I do not have favorite topics, but I have a favorite painting technique: the dripping technique, the same as J. Pollock used.

How has education influenced your creativity and changed your professional way ?

I am an autodidact. Once, I wanted to paint, and I owe it to no education.

Which artists do you get inspiration from ?

Pollock, Miro, Kandinsky, Dali', Magritte inspire me.

What do you think is the place of visual arts in today’s life? Do you think art can influence the public life ?

I think visual arts can open our minds, make us think about the world. It can even change someone. Consequently, I think it influences the public life.

Do you think that nationality has its place in art?

No, I do not think so. Art is universal. It belongs to no nation.

Which books have you been reading lately?

I have been reading especially art books.

Are there any projects you are working on at the moment?

Sculpture attracts me more and more.

How do you see your future?

I do not know. I can just say that an artist’s life is very hard.

Could you say in one sentence what art is for you?

For me, art is a kind of therapy, a self-transcendence, a way to escape from the real world to better immerse in the unreal.
