When did you start to be interested in art? Why did you choose to draw?

I am fond of drawing since I can remember myself. My mother says, from 2 years old.

Do you remember your first artwork, what was it like?

I don't remember what artwork was the first. I liked to depict cats and dogs in my childhood.

What are your favourite topics and why? Is there anything you would not depict

I like different topics. I am fond of Belarusian history and history of The Grand Duchy of Lithuania. So I like to portray Great names of history, and Belarusian landscapes. I still like to depict cats and dogs..

How education has influenced your creativity and changed your professional way?

I have graduated from The Art School, The Republican College of arts, and now I am a student of The Academy of Arts (Minsk, Belarus), the department of monumental art. I think that it is very important for young artist to have a good teacher. I have such a teacher and I am very grateful to him. But by and large all education which I have got has influenced my creativity.

Do you think that nationality has its place in art?

Yes, I think so. Anyway in my creativity nationality plays a major role. But I like art of different countries.

From which authors do you get inspiration?

I like folk art very much and art of middle-ages. When I painted portraits of Great names of history of The Grand Duchy of Lithuania, I got inspiration from Sarmatian portraits. It is a form of ceremonial knight portrait, typical for the fine arts of The Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Modern Belarusian graphics also influences my creativity. There are many interesting artists in Belarus: Uladzimir Savich, Pavel Tatarnikov etc.

What, do you think is the place of visual arts in today's life? Do you think art can influence the public life?

In my opinion, television and cinema have more influence than painting today.

Do you think that nationality has its place in art?

Yes, I think so. Anyway in my creativity nationality plays a major role. But I like art of different countries.

Which books are you reading lately?

Clive Staples Lewis "The Screwtape Letters", "The Chronicles of Narnia" .

Are there any projects you are working on at the moment?

I am working on a still life with two cacti.

How do you see your future?

I want to graduate from the Academy, and then, possibly, I will go to the graduate school. I would also like to paint and to exhibit my artworks.

Would you say in one sentence what is the art for you?

It is a means of expression myself.
